Aston Hall in Birmingham, England, is a phenomenal 17th century Jacobean style mansion. It is believed the hall is haunted by the ghost of The Grey Lady, Mary Holte.

Mary was imprisoned in a cellar and kept here by her very own father after she expressed a wish to run away with a local servant boy with whom she had fallen in love.

However, there are reports of several spirits at the mansion. One spirit frequently seen around the property is that of a working servant boy who hung himself from the gallows after being accused of stealing food and goods.

Many visitors claim they have witnessed the apparition of the Mary Holte, the unfortunate cellar girl, known in death as The Grey Lady. Could these ghosts be actively haunting the Hall today?

Are their souls emotionally tied here? Because if there are, those would be classed as 'residual hauntings'. They are non malevolent in nature, but rather they repeat, just like a record, over and over again.

Staff have encountered a ghostly figure who sits in a rocking chair by the fire place wearing a long distinctive victorian era green dress.

The hall has been named one of the UKs most haunted heritage sites.
