Christmas Phantom Headless Tom | America | Paranormal | Folklore | Festive | Community | Haunting
Quote from Angela on December 25, 2020, 12:45 pmBack in the 1800s it was actually Victorian era custom to gather around the fire with family and friends and indulge in re telling christmas folklore stories! This is one the favourite tales of old!
On a cold snowy Christmas Eve night back in 1844 Tom Parks sat all alone in his jail cell at a high security Penitentiary wing. He had been arrested for the fourth time for 'disturbance of the peace'.
No visitors came to see Tom. Staff grew concerned that Tom might become aggressive when he saw other inmates receiving visitors. Tom was a giant of a man and people felt frightened due to his stature. So the Sheriff decided to relocate Tom to a higher security area and sure enough Tom became violent requiring three security officers to physically handle him and escort him to confinement quarters.
Early the next morning, which was Christmas day, Tom found a sharp object and cut his own throat virtually decapitating himself!
A phrenologist was called to the penitentiary (a physician who examines the bone structure of head size in relation to brain function and psychological traits).
He was shocked to discover the sheer size of Toms frontal cortex and set about extensively researching. He kept Toms head at his laboratory. The rest of Toms body was buried, headless!
It is said that Tom still roams the old penitentiary banging cell railings and slamming doors in search of his missing head!
We don't know about you but we think Victorian tales should make a re emergence! Great fun!
From all at Boise City Ghost Hunters we wish you a very Happy Christmas Day!
