Echoes of True Heroes at Apollo 1 Launch Site | Cape Canaveral Florida | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

Here at Boise City Ghost Hunters we are often faced with some truly sensitive material, actual historical events which are more recent and record the loss of some truly honourable individuals.

Those individuals leave very real families behind today. We honour their legacies with utmost respect.

California, the Sunshine State, is draped history and tales of the unexplained. Today we visit events which occurred at the Apollo 1 Launch Site, Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The Cape was chosen as a rocket launch test area due to its Southern linear advantage point which allows crafts to take off in the same direction as the earths rotation.

This site was the first US manned mission to the moon. However, in January 1967, tragedy struck when a fire ignited during launch pad tests. The lives of three prestigious astronauts namely Roger Chaffee, Virgil Grissom and Edward White were taken that day.

Initial plans for The Apollo launch programme were implemented by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 when he declared a mission to land men on the moon, and have them return home safely, by the end of the decade.

The cause of this horrific incident? An electrical wiring fault.

Proudly, in December 1968, Apollo 8 ventured forth and became the first ever manned craft to successfully land on the moon.

Visitors to the Cape today report hearing disembodied voices and emanating from nearby the launch pad area.

Phenomena became so frequent, with visitors feeling genuinely unsettled, so much so that Nasa officially closed the site down for further investigation.

Icy cold spots, a feeling of being watched and shadow figures which pass by so fast they make you look twice, are all phenomena frequently experienced here.

During its peak success, this was the site of great discovery, vibrancy and enthusiasm. Unprecedented levels of activity ran through here, hundreds worked at this site, filled with unsuppressed wanderlust and dreams of future space voyage.

It it therefore feasible that this site would retain much of that energy and many claim they can feel it, in the air, literally enveloping them.

But, how heartbreaking that those who wanted toiled so tirelessly to enrich our future succumbed to the present.

Why not visit The Kennedy Space Centre Visitor Complex, Merritt Island Florida, today and stand in their Exceptional Bravery Tribute room dedicated to the memory of the Apollo 1 warriors.

Their lives will always be remembered, tokens of the ultimate sacrifice.
