What really are the differences between an empath and a medium?

EMPATHS

An empath has the capability to readily understand emotions. An empath is born with the ability to sense, an certain intuition, and can easily tune into other peoples feelings.

Empaths see the good in everyone, they are caring, loving, compassionate.

They can detect specific energies, visible and invisible. There does not always have to be a physical presence.

Empaths are able to read people via body language, tone of voice, they recognize the slightest shifts and changes and monitor every spoken word.

A true empath has a deep sense of knowing. This is where the term 'picking up on a vibe' stems from. Feelings are communicated on a vibrational frequency, and empaths are more readily open to, and easily pick up on, those frequencies.

Empaths are great listeners and often sacrifice their own emotional needs to openly aid and soothe the emotions of others.

Empathy characteristics can be genetically inherent, they can sense what another person will say even before they say it out loud.

Not all empaths are outspoken, many actually shield themselves and enjoy solitude and reclusiveness in order to protect their delicate nature.

Empaths are often described as having an ethereal quality when present in a room, gentle, soothing, caring.

Empaths are often inclined to be creative people, engaging in art, and also often affection, passionate, often also erotic.

They are drawn to pureness and innocence, and as a result many will have pets, and enjoy caring for children.

Empaths seemingly enjoy the outdoors and nature, it is suggested that the natural energy elements of the natural earth has a way of recharging the energy they may lose whilst exhaustively helping others.

It seems that most people seem to know an empath in their circle of friends, and many folks seek out empaths for advice feeling assured that they will be given honesty, trust and non judgemental guidance.

There are also down sides to being an empath, they are often prime targets of abuse.

They see the good in everyone and show love, and often those beautiful characteristics are taken advantage of.

Highly empathetic people are also in danger of attracting toxic individuals such as narcissists whose sole intention is ultimate manipulation and harm.

This is why it is vital that an empath learns how to recognise specific energies and make the empowering decision on whether to 'accept' or 'block' that energy. Empaths would do well to block such people.

A narcissist is a 'taker' and 'selfish' and knows exactly how to intentionally groom an empath and proceed to 'drain' energy from an empath.

MEDIUMS

A medium is an individual who intentionally channels spirits, they contact those who have passed on and act as an open and intentional vessel to communicate messages between spirit realms.

They see and feel things others do not pick up on, very similar to an empath.

However, mediums primarily communicate with spirits, and will relay messages from spirit to the living.

Mediums claim to have heightened senses which guides their intuition, for example a strong urge or feeling to look under the floorboards or check an alleyway etc.

When they cross the spirit worlds they describe seeing events through a souls perspective, they feel exactly what that soul went through in life, what they are feeling now, very often those souls are trapped in a sort of limbo.

Many of those trapped spirits have messages to relay back to loved ones on earth.

That is where mediums come in.

A medium may claim they are able to pick up an object and see a birds eye journey in their mind of that object and go on to communicate what they are seeing. This is why they are very often used in police investigations of homicide cases in the hopes they can trace that object to the victims whereabouts.

The living realm and the spirit realm are separated by a very thin veil, and mediums claim they have the ability to help many restless spirits who may be trapped in between those realms, peacefully move on.

Mediums can tune into a higher level of communication often described as being in between the living world and the spirit world, hence the name 'medium' coming from 'middle world'.

Very often those who have lost loved ones claimed they found some degree of closure or peace after having such messages relayed to them personally via a medium.
