Ghost in The Princess Suite at the Mount Washington Hotel | New Hampshire | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

The Mount Washington Hotel, set amidst the vast forests of Bretton Woods, was built in 1902 by local entrepreneur Joseph Stickney who made his wealth from the mining industries. Joseph was known for appointing local Italian craftsmen as they were pioneers in renaissance era construction. This hotel is known as the 'wealthy mans hotel' and houses 200 luxury rooms.

Joseph and his wife Carolyn lived at the hotel happily until Joseph died of a heart attack just one year later. Carolyn later fell in love with a French Prince, Prince Lucinge, and eloped to with him to France. A few years later the Prince died and Carolyn returned to her Mount Washington Hotel where she was destined to spend the rest of her days, alone.

It is believed this hotel today is haunted by Carolyn, particularly room 314.

Staff often report sighting the spirit of Carolyn looking down from an upper balcony, eerily the very same balcony she would use in life, when she would secretly observe incoming guests. Carolyn was known to enjoy admiring all the glitzy frocks worn by the female guests, and would endeavour to outshine them all, being the competitive woman she was. Carolyn had to be the best, and look the best.

Visitors have stated witnessing the full spectrum apparition of Carolyn hurriedly descending the main staircase, as if running late for dinner!

Guests in room 314, claim to have encountered Carolyn sitting at the foot of their beds at night, calmly brushing her hair. Room 314 was Carolyns favourite suite, The Princess Suite, and she used it exclusively to ready herself for dinner engagements. She was known to have a silver vanity tray, powderpuff and perfume here.

The hotel boasts some truly wonderful amenities such as outdoor golf course, skiing facilities, salon and spa.

Would you be brave enough to spend a night here? If you do, remember to check the balcony.
