Ghosts of Christmas Pasts | The Nuns Of Usk Priory Monmouthshire | Paranormal | Historical | Hauntings | BoiCGH

Well, Christmas isn't complete without a good old traditional tale so here goes. Based on true events.

One bright winter morning in December 1970, a researcher set off to explore Usk Priory/Abbey in the beautiful British town of Usk, Monmouthshire.

The priory, a stunning 12th century foundation, was originally used as a Gentleman's Retreat/ Convalescent Centre.

There is an adjoining courtyard which had previously served as a pilgrimage haven in years gone by.

The researcher fell in so love with the property that he decided he would look into buying it, and so arranged an official viewing of the property.

As he approached the building he saw some workmen who shouted from across the street 'you're not going in alone are you!? If you're not out within the hour we will come and check on you'. He thought it a joke and replied 'I will just scream so u can hear me'. He pulled out the  wrought iron gate key, and went inside.

The rooms were enormous, a delightful library hidden down a corridor through a large stone archway. It seemed very welcoming and pleasant indeed!

He thought he mite look upstairs in the attics but as he climbed the stairway he felt suddenly felt very unwell and a sense of terror washed over him. He checked his watch, it was 6pm. Out of a window he saw some nuns across the courtyard. The Estate Agent had informed him there may be other interested buyers viewing the property today, he just hadn't expected them to be nuns. However he completely understood their interest.

After about an hour he left the building. Some of the local town folk approached him quizzing him over his interest. They told him of how in the 12th century four nuns lived here and would walk through the courtyard at exactly 6pm every day and that some visitors claim to have even seen them. Instantly he realised he was one of those visitors too.

He decided not to go ahead with his purchase after all as he may feel a little outnumbered.
