Ghosts at The Blackpool Grand Theatre | Blackpool England | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | United Kingdom | BoiCGH

Blackpools Grand Theatre has staged hundreds of Royal Variety performances for generations. There are two known active hauntings here, Roland and Charlie.

Long time stage Manager David Fletcher says the theatre first opened its doors July 1894, built by the same architect who built the London Palladium. The theatre is ornately designed and a popular historical UK  landmark.

It's ornate ceiling and structure has been fully restored.  The theatre is home to two ghosts, Charlie and Roland are known to actively haunt the theatre today and are believed to inhabit the upper theatre circle near the balcony.

Charlie sadly committed suicide because he was jilted by his lover.

Years later, the band The Drifters were performing and during the interval a member of the audience enquired if the theatre was haunted by a ghost and pointed up towards the upper balcony circle. Many reported sighting a young ghostly man sitting with two ladies, all of them dressed in formal 1800s clothes.

Many believe there is an actual 'portal' to another world within the theatre situated on the scenery prop bridge, the highest point in the theatre. This is of course not scientifically proven and many enthusiasts argue that there must be 'laylines' present, of which none were found.

Another interesting event was one night pre rehearsals a British producer sat in the audience of the empty auditorium, he was alone, and felt a tap on the shoulder, he turned to find nobody there. Later he discovered he was sat in Charlie's seat! The very seat he leapt to his death from.

The spirit of Roland, who was the resident theatre artist who hand designed all the bright flamboyant hand painted show posters, is known to haunt the studio rooms where he created his showstopping art posters for the front of the theatre.

Some say they have seen Rolands apparition walking calmly around apparently he loved his job so much he did not truly leave.

With its shadowy corridors and restless spirits, what more could you ask for?
