Happy Historical Birthday Meridian | 128th Year This August | Meridian, Idaho | Historical | BoiCGH

Ada County Meridian Mark your calendars and raise a glass!

This coming August (18th) The wonderful historic City of Meridian enters its 128th year since its first establishment in 1891. 

Meridian was initially a village of just 200 population set on the Onweiler homestead belonging to Eliza Ann Zenger and her family who travelled here with many others from areas such as Missouri and Utah. Eventually, businesses, fruit orchards and creameries were implemented proving to massively successful with the added successes of railroad completions.

The town became incorporated in 1903 and 1941 saw Meridian recognised as an official City. By 2010 Meridians population was recorded as 75,092 making it the third largest city in Idaho which is rather phenomenal considering its humble homestead beginnings.

Meridian is one of the States fastest growing cities and was featured on the Top 10 Best Places to Live in America list!

The ever evolving Treasure Valley continues to thrive and takes great pride in presenting accessible avenues for arts and educational initiatives, many with free access. 

Shopping areas, waterparks, forests, museums, theatres, bars and restaurants. With 17 public parks, and Settlers Regional Park offering free outdoor movies during the summer months, there is always something exciting to do in Meridian. 

Eagle Island State Park is a phenomenal man made lake and beach area offering the very finest equestrian and hiking trails.

Notable people include Peter Cetera (from band Chicago was from Ketchum), Ernest Hemingway (Novelist) adored Idaho and spent many summers here.
