Portland has an extremely haunted history. Here we look at some of its reportedly most paranormal locations.

1. The Old Town Pizza company (we have a separate article called The Shanghai Tunnels, this the eatery located above those tunnels!).

Many believe the spirit of Nina, a local prostitute who died in an elevator on the premises, still haunts the eatery today.  Visitors report seeing Ninas apparition yet that doesn't deter tourists from all over the region requesting a sneak peak at the sinister elevator shaft!

2. The White Eagle Tavern

This small eleven room hotel is a popular venue with paranormal investigators as it claims to be haunted by two spirits. One is Rose, a jilted lover who was murdered here and the other is Sam the old caretaker who still performs his duties yet from a supernatural realm.

3. McMenamins Bagdad Theatre and Pub

This historic theatre and bar in the heart of Portland is believed to be haunted by the spirits of past employees who still roam the backstage theatre. Shadow figures, childrens whisperings voices and slamming doors are a mainstay here! Staff describe disembodied footsteps and feeling a malevolent male presence in the basement area.

4. The Hollywood Theatre

This theatre is known for strange visual anomalies such as orbs and unexplainable floating mists. The venue is said to be haunted by the spirits of Toby and Steve who were past staff workers here. These ghosts are said to be friendly. Also the ghost of a blonde female spirit smoking a cigarette in the entrance hall has been spotted, believed to be the restless spirit of a ghost who still waits for her husband to arrive, unaware that he died in a car accident en route here. Visitors claim to seeing apparitions in the entrance hall and feeling as if they are being watched. It comes as no surprise that paranormal investigators report off the scale EMF readings here.

 5. Lone Fir Cemetery

With its first burial in 1846, and still a working cemetery, this cemetery is known to be haunted by the spirits of over twenty thousand entities who mourn their graves being 'unmarked'.  What a cruel ending. Known as the nameless ghosts. Tour guides and visitors report hearing children giggling near the lone fir trees. Maybe they are in a better place?

6. Crosian Creek Road, Salem

A little girl was killed whilst crossing this road by a speeding car. There have been hundreds of reports of drivers who have witnessed the apparition of a little girl exactly at the location where she sadly lost her life.

7. Highway 101, Cannon Beach

This beautiful scenic highway coastal stretch is said to be haunted by a man wearing bandages across his face. Some even say he was seen in their rear view mirror view!

8. The Chateau at Oregon Caves

Initially opened in 1934 as a national monument preserve, the lodge and coffee shop are reportedly haunted by Elizabeth, a newlywed who jumped from an upstairs window upon finding her new husband in the arms of another woman. Guests report her spirit angrily pulling at bedsheets, banging pans in the kitchen area and appearing in mirrors!

9. Hoodoo Antiques Shop

This well known Portland gift shop is said to be haunted by a mischievous spirit, a lady wearing a lace bonnet who appears at the rear of the shop who is known to move items from shelves often leaving visitors shaken up!
