During the mid 16th century in England fear was widespread as communities were infiltrated by actual witches.

Pendle Hill in Lancashire is said to be home to ten witches, all of whom were hanged at Lancaster Castle, after being accused of first degree murders.

In 1612 ten witches were buried on the hills which surround the castle.

Pendle Hill is a huge historical landmark attraction and popular with paranormal enthusiasts the world over. Paranormal TV team Most Haunted crew broadcasted live from here and many production crew claimed they felt actually possessed and two crew members stated feelings of choking and strangulation. The team also witnessed a glass table spontaneously combusted into pieces.

Locals believe the hill to be cursed. Do these witches still supernaturally reside here? Many say all who walk the hill are seen as trespassers on sacred grounds, so be respectful.

The Pendle Witches are featured in many documentaries and an anthology of haunted stories surrounding the hill is actually available called 'Shadow of Pendle' by writer Barry McCann which became an instant national Amazon bestseller. 

The Golden Lion pub pictured below is said to be the last place the witches drank at!
