Possessed Dolls | Robert Did It | Robert The Doll Haunts East Martello Fort Museum | Key West Florida | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

Have you ever owned a spooky doll that made you feel a little uneasy?

Sometimes you would swear you saw its eyes blink or its hand move?

Well this could possibly creep you out even more. The East Martello Museum was constructed on a Civil War Fort in 1862 by the United States Army with protection defence towers. In 1950, Key West Art & Historical Society opened the museum to the public. A phenomenal and honourable location which would make a great day out.

Robert the Doll is said to actively haunt this museum with visitors reporting daily strange and unexplained phenomena surrounding this hauntingly mysterious doll. Many who try to capture photographs state their cameras and electronics failed to do so.

Spirits will often drain electronic sources in order to manifest. Staff claim this doll actually changes position, moves around, and generally misbehaves! It is suggested that this doll, or whatever entity is using the doll, causes bad things to happen within its surrounding vicinity so you might want to keep your distance.

But what do we actually know about Robert the Doll?

Well, he was a favourite toy belonging to a child named Robert Eugene Otto. We also know that this doll was handmade. The boy was, of course, excited to have the doll. However, soon after taking the doll home, some truly unsettling phenomena began.

The boys parents would hear commotion and unexplained disturbances coming from their sons room. One night they heard their sons piercing screams echo down the stairs and swiftly ran to his room.

They discovered the bedroom door was jammed, hard shut, as if locked although there was no lock system installed on that door due to it being a childs room. Frantically they pushed the door and shouted words of reassurance to their hysterical son whose helpless voice continued to scream for help.

Whatever entity was in that room was certainly no match for them and their efforts seemed futile. After what seemed like an eternity, and i'm sure every parents worst nightmare powerless in aiding ones own child, the door gave way and opened.

What greeted them was chaos. The room had been completely ransacked by some unknown force. Furniture had been violently thrown, items had been shattered and broken.  The boy was literally shaking in fear and completely terrified. To their relief their son had not sustained any serious injury.

They questioned their son about what had occurred and all he said was "ROBERT DID IT".

What was this unseen force and how could it have manifested such power to destroy a whole room like that? Was this a typical poltergeist haunting or something far more sinister? There are many who believe that dolls can actually become haunted and may act as a vessel for demonic possessions.

The boy kept the doll regardless and as an adult he placed it in storage up in an attic. Passers by would tell him they had witnessed the doll moving about up in the window. His wife urged him to discard of the doll. For many years he would not part with the doll, but eventually Robert the Doll was donated. Yet it seemed that no matter where this doll went, people would experience feeling uneasy, clearly disturbed by the possibility that this doll actually moves, and genuinely watches folks.

He is now property of the East Martello Fort Museum, and eerily sits in a locked glass case, just watching visitors passing by. Are you brave enough to go and pay him a visit?
