Pundy The Playful Ghost | Punderson Manor | Newbury Ohio | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

Punderson Country Manor & Conference Centre is a 19th century English Tudor styled manor, nestled in the Newbury hills of Ohio and greets you with spooky stone gargoyles and a literal 'knight in shining armour' in the hallway.

Originally this building was Punderston State Park girls lodging camp which was established in the 1950s and is today said to be haunted by Pundy the Playful Ghost.

Forbes magazine reported that this manor is so haunted that it has been featured in the book 'Haunted Ohio 2'. Paranormal teams and psychic mediums are regulars here continuously fascinated upon witnessing some very active phenomena.

Cathy, one of the staff, claims that as she was looking out of one of the windows on a really hot day, admiring the beautiful glistening Punderson lake. She had attempted to open a particular window on multiple occasions but it was jammed hard shut.

Cathy recalls that she mumbled to herself "i wish these windows would open" and before she could even finish the words, instantly the window unexplainably burst wide open as if by an unseen force.

Unable to believe her eyes, Cathy ran out of the room screaming. The Manager, all too aware of the manor ghosts, asked her "please don't quit Cathy we need you".

The ghost alleged to haunt the manor is nicknamed 'Pundy', is often compared to Casper the Friendly Ghost, and believed responsible for much of the phenomena experienced here.

Pundy is said to be non malevolent who attempts interaction by way of slamming doors shut, throwing books from the library shelves, playing with bathroom faucets, switching tvs on and off and manifesting a pleasant audible giggle.

It doesn't have to be dark in order for Pundy to manifest. He harmlessly seeks a little playful fun. One housekeeper cried out 'stop Pundy' all too aware of Pundys playful presence.

However, there has been one more slightly sinister sighting which was the apparition of a lumberjack seen hanging from a upper level wooden beam. Many staff have witnessed this phenomena.

Other visitors have reported sighting the spirits of the girls who once attended here during the 1950s, ascending the main staircase.

Today the manor offers accommodation, conference facilities, gift shop, library, decked pool and outdoor sporting activities areas which is also an extremely popular wedding venue.

There are 31 delightful rooms to choose from including the Shearwood Room and The Victoria Room, which one will you be checking into?

And remember if you're a fan of Casper, you're sure to love Pundy.

Not all entities are sinister.
