Real Life New Years Eve Tales of Horror | Christmas | Factual | Community | Traditions | Fireside Tales | Entertainment | BoiCGH

New Years Eve is a holiday and celebration which many folks use as motivation in ushering in a more promising and positive year.

However, this notable night has also been known for some truly significant and unsettling events.

So pour yourself a glass of fizz and enjoy our real life tales of New Years Eve horrors.

These are not fictional or made up, these events actually took place.

1. Creepy Chicago

On New Years Eve of 1920 The Drake Hotel in Chicago celebrated its opening night which started with elegance but sadly ended in tragedy.

It was the night a lady now known as The Lady In Red jumped to her death from the tenth floor.

The woman, who wore a beautiful red evening dress, discovered her fiance in the arms of another lady.

Ever since this tragedy, many guests report witnessing a full spectrum apparition of the woman, roaming various rooms throughout the hotel today.

Staff describe hearing her cries coming from the very rooftop she leapt from, followed by extreme feelings of oppression and being overcome with emotions of deep regret.

Are they sensing what the lady in red may have felt, immediately upon jumping?

Instant regret, all too late.

2. A British Affair

A lady in England UK held a New Years Eve party from her home in the wonderful Lake District. The home was rumored to be haunted but the owners had not yet witnessed any paranormal activity - yet.

As the party progressed and people relaxed they began the party games. The clinking of champagne glasses, the warmth of the fire, the night was perfect.

One lady noticed that gifts she had literally just wrapped, had disappeared from sight, nowhere to be found.

And one by one, each guest realised a parallel party in motion. Otherworldly laughter hailed down within the rooms ambience like supernatural rain.

But this party was paranormal in nature, its participants coming in and out of sight like mysterious mists, their set up almost mimicking the living.

They were joined by spirits from another realm, also enjoying some form of celebration. and right at the moment the lady who lost her wrapped gifts found them, in the hands of ghostly spectres.

3. Arizona Anomalies

The Hotel Monte Vista in Flagstaff, Arizona, opened on New Years Day in 1927.

More than one hundred Western movies were filmed nearby this hotel. There are many stories of ghosts here, including the notorious 'Phantom Bellboy'. This hotel was a favorite with Spencer Tracy, Bing Crosby and Jane Russell and Marylin Monroe.

Multiple guests who stayed in the room actor Gary Cooper favored, have heard unexplained coughing sounds. The hotel front desk staff report the apparition of a notorious former 1970s bank robber who often stayed at this hotel. And guess where he's headed, yep straight to the bar.

Dozens of families who check in, soon after check out.

Why? They claim to being tormented throughout the night by unexplained bangings, floating mists, strange light anomalies and an unsettling feeling of being monitored by unseen eyes within their rooms.

4. Teenage Camping Trip Utah

Ok, this one really gave me the chills.

Utah, New Years Eve of 2012, a group of ten teenage friends grabbed a portable barbeque and a stereo and headed off on a camping roadtrip.

They found a fairly comfortable base and began to unpack their belongings. When midnight arrived they set off a few fireworks to welcome the New Year. Moments later one of the girls screamed in shock claiming she saw a creepy shadow figures hovering near the fire flames.

Throughout that whole night the friends were subjected to deathly piercing screams and desperate cries for help and dragging sounds. They were the only foreseeable gathering in that specific area.

Upon returning home and researching the area they were flabbergasted to discover that there had been a widespread massacre at that very site.

This was none other than the historical Mountain Meadows Massacre of 1857.

120 people were killed, all travelling on the Baker-Fancher immigrant wagon trains.

Did those teens encounter the spirits from one of the most historically significant mass murders in America?

This really magnifies the importance of knowing our local history! Right?
