Residual Prisoners Still Trapped At The Liberty Hotel | Boston Massachusetts | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

The Liberty Hotel is a historic jail, turned hotel, dating back to 1848, discreetly located off Charles Street in the Beacon Hill neighbourhood of Boston, Massachusetts.

The building is constructed in the shape of a large cross, with four wings separating inmates on such things as gender and seriousness of offence.

The building design was intended to allow natural ventilation and structured intermingling of prisoners.

The establishment enforced a strict rule of 'silence' and was a cold place in every sense of the word.

In 1973 the building was deemed unsafe, yet continued to operate.

Notable inmates who served time here include African/American Minister Malcolm X, Boston Strangler Albert DeSalvo and Boston Mayor James Michael Curley.

The building is now managed by Marriott Enterprises who extensively renovated and reopened the site as a Luxury Collection hotel named The Liberty Hotel.

The Liberty Hotel is 'residually' haunted by its many past prison inmates.

We say 'residually' because none of the spirits have been known to interact with the living but rather linger here, like imprinted echoes, on supernatural repeat.

Perhaps this would explain the apparitions seen walking through walls where there were once doors.

Residual hauntings do not recognise or acknowledge renovation or building alteration. They see things exactly how they were at the time they inhabited that location.

Guests report sighting ghostly faces peering through room windows, misty apparitions of guards and inmates and items seen physically levitating in the air.

Hotel staff report doors opening and closing, just like the old cell doors slamming and lights turning on and off despite inspections revealing no electrical defect.

Also encountered is the sound of heavy footsteps angrily stomping along the corridors which once were steel prison catwalks.

The kitchen is a known active hotspot, with many witnessing audible disembodied voices, as if shouting catering orders, across the work stations.

Several guests have left early on accounts of feeling uncomfortable, as if being monitored and watched by something 'unseen'.

Could the inmates of so long ago still somehow feel confined to this location?

So, if it's a quiet non eventful weekend break you're after, you might want to skip this one.
