Return Of The Witches at The De Vargas House Museum | Santa Fe New Mexico | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

New Mexico, The Land of Enchantment, is no stranger to the creepy and macabre.

During the 1830s the De Vargas Street House in Santa Fe, New Mexico, was constructed. The house rests atop ancient foundations near the eastern railtrack. Original Tlaxcalen Indians settled here forming their own settlement. They named it the Barrio De Analco which is now The Oldest House Museum (De Vargas House) and preserved as a Historic District.

This property was later owned by the Archdioceses and sold for just $3,000 to the Christian Brotherhood. The house comprises three main rooms, two storey, and is 372 years old. Today it still stands.

Many nicknamed it ‘the tiny house’ because of its small doors, tiny windows and original rafters. The site now runs as a museum displaying replicas of original furniture and native American items and artefacts.

It is believed that this whole street is actively haunted by spirits who suffered the tyranny of Spanish rule and even masters of the occult and witches of that day.

The home was lived in from 1646 until 1920 by two sisters who practiced witchcraft. The sisters were sentenced, tried and subsequently beheaded.

And if you think that's the end of their story you would be sorely mistaken.

It is believed that those practicing witches, who once concocted an array of potions, actively haunt the location today. I don’t think there’s any doubt that these entities would be considered ‘malevolent’ in nature.

Proceed with caution.

Phenomena reported here includes items being thrown, sinister scraping sounds, a sense of being watched and literally the most chilling encounter would be the ice cold hands touching and grasping physically at those who pass through the rooms.

When the witches lived here a young man visited them for a love potion. He was never seen again.

Paranormal teams have witnessed two twisted black smoky apparitions with pale white faces, always together, floating amidst the upper storey.

Could the witches be actively residing here today by way of residual haunting what once was their home?

Let's hope their spells hold no real power today.

Do you believe that witches are real?

What would you consider the definition of a witch to be? Drop a comment below because we would love to know your thoughts.
