Solstice Spirits Pierce the Veil | Seasonal | Factual | Community | Festive | Historical
Quote from Angela on December 11, 2020, 2:34 pmDid you know that the Christmas season coincides with a decades old Winter Solstice. The word solstice actually means 'the sun stood still'.
What exactly is Winter Solstice?
Winter Solstice, also known as 'Yule' (Germanic origin meaning jewel) is a decades old revered Norse Wiccan tradition falling on three consecutive winter nights, depending on which timezone you reside, but usually falling on 21st December.
This is when your northern hemisphere is furthest away from the sun, hence the shortest daylight hours day and longest night time hours of the year and things can get pretty dark!
If you've ever wondered what the purpose of Stonehenge was, well those phenomenal rocks were used kind of like a giant stopwatch measuring the light and dark shadows helping civilisations keep track of time. Hundreds of pagans and druids still gather at Stonehenge to welcome the Winter Solstice.
The Winter Solstice is believed to be closely linked with high levels of spiritual and paranormal activity. Celtic, Nordic and Germanic cultures believe that dark entities more readily emerge during the Solstice due to the increased lunar cycle.
It has been said that during these darkest solstice nights, the veil between the supernatural realm wears dangerously thin and may present a window of opportunity for any curious onlooking spirits to travel through 'piercing the physical veil'!
There have been tales of people not quite acting like themselves, strange and unexplainable occurences and of animals behaving oddly. Also of interest is paranormal investigators report a high increase on equipment readings during this time.
So next time you gaze up at the ethereal blue glow of the midnight moon (Luna) on a Solstice night let us know if you experience anything 'astronomically paranormal'!
