What really lurks amidst the ancient sites of Ireland once darkness falls?

St Michens Anglican Church in Dublin, Ireland, is the oldest church on the northern side of the River Liffey.

The building was originally a 5th century Norse chapel erected by architect William Robinson in 1685 and was further renovated in 1825.

The site is best known for its historic burial vaults, five long dark corridors holding bodies laid to rest there, dating back over 800 years.

These chambers hold the bodies of Crusaders, Nuns and Priests along with a multitude of deceased affluent Dublin family lines. 

The dry conditions within these ancient chambers has literally caused mummification of the bodies, with visible disintegration resulting in incidents of minor movement. These movements have many times been suspected as paranormal. This phenomena became known as ‘The Whispering Mummies’.

Thousands descend into the tombs each year in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the paranormal and they are anything but disappointed.  

Sensations of icy fingers grasping at arms and legs, disembodied whispers of chattering crowds and feelings of whole unseen crowds surging, as if pushing, against the living are all alleged phenomena encountered here.

Staff claim to hearing strange scratching sounds and unsettling whispers emanating from the tombs whilst others have reported personal items going missing from their person whilst down in the crypts.
