The Death Lights And Fight Or Flight Adrenalin Phenomena | The Haunted Arena | The Colosseum | Rome, Italy | Paranormal | Historical | Haunted | BoiCGH

From ancient structures to the most historic monuments known to man. Welcome to Rome, Italy. The Colosseum in Rome really needs no introduction.

This oval shaped, open air, entertainment structure located in the center of Rome, is the largest ampitheater ever constructed, with a capacity for over 80,000 spectators.

Completed in 1880 the colosseum was built over the former site of Emperor Neros original home and intended to signify the military prowess of the Flavian dynasty.

Inaugural games, believed to appease the gods, were frequently held here, sometimes lasting as long as one hundred days.

During the late 6th century the stadium was repurposed as a castle, and later as a cemetery, following deterioration of the south side wall.

In order to preserve the site, the city stepped in with rapid attempts to preserve what was left. Although the interior can no longer safely support large crowds, several musicians have chosen the colosseum as a backdrop to their performances, including notable artists such as Ray Charles and Sir Paul McCartney.

A religious order inhabited the structure until the turn of the 19th century.

At night the colosseum is illuminated from white to gold every time an inmate breathes their last breaths on death row in surrounding prisons. These are known as the 'death lights'.

There are so many terrifying tales emanating from these ancient archways that the colosseum is widely considered as being Romes most haunted location.

From apparitions of ghostly gladiators yielding deadly weaponry, Roman soldiers guarding the gateways, trampling hooves of phantom horses to the residual cries of all those who were slain here, phenomena is frequent and activity is plentiful.

There are not many locations where whole ghostly crowds manifest in full, but the Colosseum is one.

Hundreds of visitors have reported continual disembodied screams. Perhaps the echoes of those prisoners who were so barbarically tortured here? Explorers have described strange phenomenon whereby, upon walking up the entrance ramps, they are overcome by a sudden surge of adrenalin similar to a ‘fight or flight’ response accompanied by supernatural invisible hands patting them firmly on the back.

Could they be experiencing exactly how selected warriors felt, that last rush of energy before being so coldly propelled out into the mouths of wild animals in the worlds deadliest arena?
