Route 666 is the sixth branch of the original Route 66.

With a name so dark is it any surprise that Route 666 Highway is iconic for its unsurmountable reports of paranormal activity, accidents and mayhem?

The 193 mile stretch is so cursed that it had to be renamed. Why? Because it is said the Devil himself runs it.

This 193 mile road, also known as The Beast and The Devils Highway, runs from Illinois through New Mexico and ending in Missouri is known for its unexplainable amount of horrific accidents and deaths.

Things became so bad that the American Association of State Highways decided to rename it. Route 666 is now known as Highway 191.

Route 666 is said to have the most disaster that any highway has ever seen.

Phenomena experienced on the  route are apparitions of  'faceless hitchhikers' literally walking along the the highway on dark nights and a crazed tractor driver in his vehicle who seems to approach at full speed! One survivor described his experience with this ghostly tractor and its demonic driver as 'an evil sadistic driver targeting innocent drivers intent on scaring the hell out of people due to its overpowering vehicle size'.

Could this phenomena be the devil himself set about causing destruction on 'his highway'?

Some pedestrians, when pulling over for a break on the Utah section, have reported witnessing sightings of ghostly demonic hounds with razor like teeth and the entity of a woman dressed in a flowing white nightdress.

Literally thousands of folks have offered to help the woman in white but she disappears from sight.

Most alarming is the fact that many people report episodes of 'time loss'. They simply don't remember crossing the highway.

Another report is that of a 'shapeshifter' man who terrifies drivers by walking out in front of their vehicles which has sadly caused many fatalities.

As a result, in 2003, the route was reported as 'pure evil' and New Mexico State Transportation Department and many Governors joined forces and eliminated the final remaining section of Route 666 deeming it too dangerous for public use.

What do you think? Freak accidents or 'the Devil in disguise'?
