There are many historic structures in Savannah which have a haunted reputation, but none so famous as The Kehoe House.

This Queen Ann styled mansion is one of the most internationally visited, and photographed, buildings in the United States today.

The building is located in the picturesque Columbia Square in Savannah Georgia, and is one of Georgias highest rated Bed and Breakfasts.

The home was built in 1892, by William Kehoe for his ever expanding family.

It is alleged that the Kehoes had twin boys who died during a tragic accident at the home.

One day, Mrs Kehoe was looking for the children, she could not find them and began to panic. Some time later, she noticed a foreign and strange odour about the house and sensed something was wrong.

The tiny bodies of the twin boys were later discovered trapped in the homes chimney.

It is said that those little boys still play here, in spirit, today and many have reported hearing their footsteps audibly running down the hallways accompanied by echoes of laughter.

This location is allegedly rich in residual hauntings.

Residual hauntings are when events, or sounds from the past, replay themselves. This is what we call a residual imprint.

However there is one haunting here, classified as intelligent, who likes to come out at night. So beware if you book a stay.

An intelligent haunting is when a spirit interacts with the living by way of touch, speech, cognitive recognition. For instance they might tap your shoulder, whisper your name, acknowledge their surroundings.

Many visitors at the Kehoe House have described being touched whilst they sleep. They have felt physical hands grasp bedsheets and been pulled at on ankles and arms. This phenomena always takes place between 3am and 4am.

In folklore, The Witching Hour, or The Devils Hour, is a time of night associated with supernatural entities. Demons, ghosts and witches were believed to be at their most powerful during the hour immediately after midnight, and between 3am and 4am.

The Devils Hour dates back to 1775 when the Catholic Church prohibited all activities from 3am to 4am as a mark of respect to Christ. It was said that Jesus died at 3am. The Europeans were heavily into witchcraft and decided to mock this reverent rule by inversion. They took the attention away from the church and decided to make 3am to 4am the witchcraft hour. 

Early pagans declared this time as The Witches Sabbath and believed that unclean entities were granted entry to our realm during these times.

It is also a time when the living can become greatly affected psychologically, behavioural change, mood alteration.
