The Ghostly Bride | Death In The Basement | The Princess Theatre | Edmonton, Alberta | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

The Princess Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta, is a prominent two screen art house cinema and is historically the oldest surviving theatre in Alberta.

On March 8th in 1915 the theatre opened its doors to the public as a single screen theatre with basement and upper floor rental apartments.

With the introduction of the home televisions during the 1950s, popularity of the theatre declined. Management went on to offer spaces to retailers.

However, during the 1970s, the venue ran as an adult theatre, streaming mainstream explicit films.

The site was sold to Plaza Entertainment and is today unoccupied awaiting a new lease of life.

However, there are remnants of past lives, and various tales of hauntings, still evident at this location.

There is a chilling legend involving the resident ghost of a young girl.

During the 1920s a bride to be checked into an apartment here.

Tragically, on her wedding morning, her fiance ruthlessly abandoned her.

Heartbroken, she tied a rope around her neck and hung herself in the basement area.

Staff discovered her body the next day, still swinging from a metal pole.

This spirit has been known to manifest as a strikingly beautiful young woman, wearing a wedding dress, hovering near the projection area and seen lingering in hallways.

Is this bride eternally waiting for her fairytale ending?

What do you think?
