The Octagon Mansion | Virginia | Paranormal | Historical | Haunted | America | BoiCGH

This amazing two storey 17 room unique house known as the 'round' house due to its unique and fascinating art deco styled octagon shaped architecture is located in Virginia, USA.

The house was commissioned by Abijah Thomas during the early 1800s by slaves. The property has been used for various purposes from residential, once a bakery, and also used as conference rooms. Many people have lived, and died, within the mansion.

During 1950 there was a ferocious polio outbreak in this area which sadly claimed the lives of 17 of the house residents, including Abijah Thomas and his wife who are both buried here! Their tombstones can be clearly seen from a hill just outside the house.

Now standing derelict and vacant, yet still people visit as it holds masses of history and is believed to be extremely haunted.

One room called THE DARK ROOM is said to have been where many slaves were mistreated and died, some have seen fingerprints in the concrete work still visible today.

Paranormal teams have been physically pushed, witnessed poltergeist activity, shadow people, doors spontaneously opening and closing.

The ghost of a small girl who died there have been seen on numerous occasions playing amongst the basements! Many claim they have even spoken to the child who briefly engages in conversation with them and then disappeared.

Would you be brave enough to check out The Octagon Mansion?

If quirky octagon architecture fascinates you, check out a book by Orion Fowler 'The Octagon House A Home For All' written in 1848!
