In light of the weeks events we thought it seemed apt to look at ghosts of presidents passed!

Here are our top 5!

ABRAHAM LINCOLN

The ghost of Abraham Lincoln has been seen on multiple occasions in the White House.  He is often seen standing in the Oval Office looking out from a window.  Past British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was once a guest at the White House and claimed that one night after he had bathed, standing naked, smoking a cigar, he was startled to see Lincolns ghost across in the adjoining bedroom.

WILLIE LINCOLN

The 11 year old son of Abraham Lincoln.  Willie sadly lost his battle to typhoid fever and died in the White House. Many administration staff members have reported with one even saying she spoke with the boy.

DOLLY MADISON

First Lady Dolley Madison planted the White Houses first very own rose garden in the 1800s. Over a hundred years later Lady Ellen Wilson requested the garden be renovated. The garden workers fled in fear claiming they witnessed a female apparition telling them to leave her garden alone! Even today many claim they experience the unmistakeable fragrance of roses in and around the White House. Could this be Dolleys victorious 'signature scent'.

ANDREW JACKSON

Many workers say they tread carefully when approaching the Rose bedroom, President Jacksons most favoured room, as they have often heard him either singing happily or blaspheming angrily.

ABIGAIL ADAMS

First Lady and wife to John Adams, President in 1801, used to hang her laundry in the White Houses 'East" room as it was the largest and driest area which caught the sunshine well. Even to this day staff occasionally pass Abigails spirit walking the corridor towards the East room wearing a shawl and night hat with laundry folded over one arm.

We find this all fascinating and hope our Presidents stick around long after they've gone.
