The Real Shining Hotel | The Stanley Hotel | Colorado | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

The luxurious 1909 built Stanley Hotel located just outside of the Rocky Mountain National Park is famed for its leading role as The Overlook Hotel in the televised production of Stephen Kings iconic 1980s horror movie The Shining which featured Jack Nicholson.

Stephen King himself actually stayed at the hotel in the famous room 217 which was featured in the movie, and claims he had some unexplained experiences himself.

The concierge states Mr Kings luggage disappeared and items were moved from his nightstand. Mr King also claimed he witnessed ghost children with a red ball, casually playing up on the fourth floor, completely oblivious to their surroundings.

One room is supposedly haunted by a chamber maid who once worked there, Mrs Wilson and some have seen her full body apparition still busy and tending to the room!

The hotel has become a 'mecca' for paranormal enthusiasts with some folk actually requesting a stay in the most paranormally active rooms, which shouldn't be too difficult as paranormal investigators have recorded everything from audible voices, cupboards slamming shut, icy cold spots and sounds of parties, unexplained footsteps, visible shadows and light anomalies.

One couple hurriedly exited their room screaming hysterically claiming they felt they were being 'actively possessed'.

Many homeless folk who sought shelter in the hotel basement over the years have sadly died, one old lady froze down there and many have seen her spirit still wondering the grounds.

Some staff refuse to enter certain rooms of the hotel claiming they hear alot of commotion and screaming sounds behind the closed doors! They are convinced a negative entity resides there.

Many guests leave prematurely on account of feeling uneasy and as if they were 'being watched'.

The hotel is available for bookings and offers guided and informative tours.

The Overlook Hotel may have been fictitious but The Stanley Hotel and its spirits are extremely real. Why not check it out for yourself?

Maybe the old saying is true sometimes reality really is more terrifying than fiction.
