Ghosts of Tragedy Manifest at The Sun Inn | Lancashire England | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | United Kingdom | BoiCGH

The Sun Inn in Lancashire claims to be the most haunted pub in England. This eighteenth century pub is home to two very tragic tales. The first is of Lizzie Dean, a scullery girl who committed suicide up in the attic in 1835 aged just 20 years old.

A man had promised to marry Lizzie, however on the very day of their wedding he took her best friends hand in marriage instead.

Heartbroken and betrayed as she looked out of the attic window to the very church where her lover was marrying her best friend, she tied a rope around her neck and took her own life, holding a note cursing her lover and their unborn children.

One of the tenants says one evening he witnessed a lady walking upstairs in old fashioned dress and clogg shoes, which would correlate well as many ladies who worked at the local wheat mills were required to wear cloggs for hygiene purposes.

Numerous guests have praised the pub for their costume/period dressed staff but guess what...there have never been such staff! These sightings are believed to be actual full body apparitions.

Glasses have flown from behind the bar and you may find it disturbing to discover that Lizzies lover went on to have three children all of whom were deaf and unable to speak.

Did Lizzies curse come to fruition?

A local man who tends to the beautiful local Shire horses in stables nearby states he frequently witnesses the ghost of little girl with her hair in wringlets who simply disappears. A paranormal team later revealed a little girl called Bethany once worked here.

EVP (electromagnetic voice phenomena) has recorded a little girls voice say "i like to watch him". Is this Bethany stating she enjoys watching the man look after the horses today?

There is also a second historical tragedy here. Dorothy Southworth, known as The White Lady, who fell in love with a man from the Dahorton line. Dorothy was forbidden to marry him due to family feuds. So they began meeting in secret, sadly her brothers discovered their meeting and killed him with daggers. Dorothy ran off into the woods, her white dress stained in blood.

Many visitors to the area do report seeing a lady in white running across the local streets Some pedestrians actually reported the sightings through fearing for the ladys safety.

Could it be Dorothy replaying her escape from the woods?

Have you visited Lancashires Sun Inn pub.
