Woodchester Mansion needs no introduction! This magnificent gothic construction, nestled in the secluded Gloucestershire valleys of England is one of the UKs most haunted locations famous for its ghosts!

This mansion has so many ghosts it is said one haunts each room.

Originally the mansion was home to devout Catholic Sir William Leigh and has been home to aristocratic families such as the Ducies and the Huntleys. In the early 1870s craftsmen restoring the house laid down their tools, and vowed never to return again after being literally bombarded with full body apparitions.

Maybe these spirits saw the workmen as intruding on their territory.

There have been hundreds of sightings of a frightening apparition known as the 'Tall Man' often spotted in the chapel and cellars. Others claim to seeing the famous 'Floating Head' phantom amongst the ladies bathroom stalls.

Some visitors reported being attacked and pushed whilst others have physically collapsed. This place is not for the faint of heart.

In October 2005, the mansion was subject to overnight investigations and on the second floor corridor a strange 'blue light' phenomena manifested which, whilst visible to the naked eye, sadly evaded capture on film. Whether this was electrical or paranormal has never determined.

The mansion is now property of the Woodchester Mansion Trust and re opens on 21st May and will be open for public viewings and tours. Or, if you are feeling brave enough, you can view 'Ghosts of Winchester Mansion' footage on You Tube.
