Would You Enjoy Being Hunted Down By A Real Ghost This Halloween? | Quebec Montreal Canada | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

During 1763 Marie Josephte Corriveau murdered her husband, Louis Etienne Dodier. Marie claimed her innocence but her efforts were futile as a mass scale witch hunt ensued.  Marie was duly sentenced to death.

But not just your average hanging or execution. Sow did she die? Authorities ordered that her body be confined in an iron gibbet (body cage) left outside hanging by chains for all to see at a public crossing in the Point Levy region, Quebec, Montreal.

And there she was left, to rot away, slowly.

A horrifically traumatic death which, evidently, many enjoyed watching back in the day.

It is believed that, not only does Marie haunt the site she died at but, she actively hunts the living every Halloween. Thousands of genuine public reports of Maries apparition tormenting the living and wreaking havoc on the local townspeople every Halloween.

Maybe Marie decided she wants her very own witch hunt, only this time, she's the hunter and not the hunted.

Many claim to have seen a phantom like skeleton, believed to be Maries cursed bones, blowing in the wind on a stormy night, terrorising all who pass her.

Many enjoy referring to an illustration Legendes du Saint-Laurent by Charles Walter Simpson as a relatable depiction.

Maries iron gibbet is now on display at the Musee de la civilisation in Quebec City.

The Point Levy area today is recognised as the crossroads of Saint Joseph Street and De l'Entent Boulevard, the street names may have changed, but what took place there has not.
