Haunted Kingdoms | Leap Castle | Offaly County | Historical | Paranormal | Haunting | Ireland | BoiCGH

The Kingdom of Ui Falighe also known as 'Kings Country' is home to the most haunted castle in the world. Welcome to Leap Castle where there's no shortage of things that go bump in the night.

The castle is believed to be severely haunted.

In the early 1900s workmen at the castle discovered an 'oubliette' or 'deep hole' in one of  the rooms flooring. Inside was discovered a 'sea' of human skeletal remains! The hole was known as 'The Drop' where prisoners and criminals would barbarically and literally be 'dropped' onto steel spikes below.

It is said that literally thousands died down there and it is believed that this oubliette has unleashed thousands of angry malevolent demonic entities who haunt the castle today.

Could these spirits be seeking revenge for their agonising end?

Built in 1250, with a long and extremely dark history, and the site of a very grisly murder! A priest was murdered here by his own brother by way of a sword. Clenching his bleeding chest the priest fell to the ground and died here in his very own Chapel quarters.

There have been hundreds of reports of the chapel window being unexplainably lit up after dark. Could this be the spirit of the fatally wounded priest still roaming his place of worship?

This chapel is now known as The Bloody chapel.

A further forty men were killed here. They were invited to the castle after winning a victory against a local opposing Clan. Unknown to the men was the fact their meals had been poisoned! All forty men died and are believed to haunt the large dining hall today.

Two servants were also murdered here. Yet years later documents were found suggesting that those servants were privy to knowledge of buried treasure within the castle!

Certainly worth a visit if ever you're ever in Ireland. Who knows maybe it will be you who discovers that secret treasure box.
