A Supernatural Fate | The Falling Lady At Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park | St Louis, Missouri | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park is located off Marine Avenue within the Maryland Height suburb of St Louis, Missouri.

At 320 acres, this is the largest natural lake in the state.

Historically Creve Coeur lake was formed thousands of years ago when a segment of the Missoura was cut off. Over time the lake dried out and was named Creve Coeur which in French means 'broken heart'.

During the early 1880s a resort was established on the lakes edge and local farmers constructed some lodgings, boathouses and railroads.

Mississippi valley events were hosted at the lake front and the land was used in annual country fayres and later used as an amusement park.

Water levels eventually rose and in 2001 the site welcomed Crytal Springs Golfcourse. Today the lake remains open and offers picnic facilities and accommodation.

The lake is steeped in history and ghost stories. Some time ago it is said the daughter of a local Chief fell in love with a warrior. The warrior died in battle and the girl committed suicide by walking into the lake.

I guess the lake really lived up to its name.

There have been hundreds of sightings of a female apparition, standing on a cliffs edge during full moon. The girl proceeds to step off the edge, leaving onlookers in complete shock and bewilderment as she supernaturally falls to her fate. This spirit is known as the Falling Lady.

As you can imagine this sighting is, of course, very unsettling to witness and many have left the site early on accounts of such phenomena.

Park goers continually report electrical malfunction of phones and cameras, vehicles stalling upon approach to the site and creepy disembodied voices about the accommodations.

We must remember that with each and every persons death, there comes an individual story, and sometimes those stories can affect people today. People are sometimes overcome with emotion, consumed with echoes of what once was.
