A Tea Party A Little Girl And An Angry Male Entity | The Eternal Residents Of The Whitney Restaurant | Michigan Detroit | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

Crumbled ruins and restless souls, Motor City is no stranger to the macabre.

It is said that ‘Michigan is full of life, when it comes to the dead’.

Detroit is the most haunted place in Michigan.

The Whitney Restaurant was originally a residential mansion built by David Whitney in 1890, costing $400,000, and taking four years to completion. David was one of Detroits wealthiest business men.

This beautiful, three floor, historic mansion comprised decadent stained glass New York Tiffany windows, and was the first Detroit home to have installed working elevators.

David Whitney was a lumber trader who moved here from Watertown, Massachusetts, at age 27. He began the most successful lumber business in the United States which covered Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania.

David actually had two wives. He married his own wife and his wifes friend also. Between the three he claimed it worked extremely well as one wife would adequately oversee his accounts and monetary matters whilst the other wife was more creative, artistic, she sewed and baked.

In 1882 one wife, named Flora, passed away, then the second wife, and lastly David Whitney himself died of a heart attack.

In 1917 The Wayne County Medical Society overtook the property to pursue their work in the medical field.

In the mid 80s the Whitney opened its doors as a restaurant. Bar and kitchen staff began reporting that doors were opening and closing unaided.

One waitress claimed she was hit with a strawberry. Sounds funny right?

But when she turned to check the champagne flutes, each adorned with a strawberry for an incoming wedding celebration, one glass was missing its strawberry.

Maybe the Whitneys have a playful side?

Stories of its past residents, and patients, are continually reported today.

There have been many sightings of full spectrum apparitions and fast moving mysterious mists about the establishment.

The first floor is where the main dining area now is. This is the floor where David Whitney entertained, played piano and many report to hearing phantom orchestral chords being played whilst dining here.

It has been suggested the spirit of David Whitney absolutely loves the fact that his home is filled with guests and lots of people and this is why he plays the piano.

Also reported is a dense black mass in the old carriage house. This area is known to be the most active section with active responses and audible knocking sounds leaving guests completely astounded.

This would suggest that these spirits are INTELLIGENT/HUMAN as they are aware and interacting with their immediate surroundings. They are reactive.

There is even an aptly named Ghost Bar on the third floor.

Certain aspects of phenomena were debunked, but much was left unexplained which many have classified as paranormal phenomena.

Paranormal investigators have captured EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) recordings but nothing on digital camera as of yet. Voices of a child and a female, and an angry malevolent male. These voices have also been heard not only by way of EVP but out loud within rooms themselves.

Staff have been told of a little girl called Grace who used to live here, her favorite thing to do was play make believe tea parties with imaginary guests and her little china teaset. Grace has been captured giggling, and then alarmingly, crying.

We only hope she did not encounter the malevolent male entity also residing here.
