However, this location is known for more than horses, bourbon and music.

The Doe Run Inn, Brandenburg, Kentucky, is said to ‘terrify even the hardiest of souls’. The Inn initially ran as Stephensons Mill in 1880, and was also used as a barn, and later reopened as a hotel.

Many have speculated that the Inn is haunted by a malevolent entity who torments the living.

Guests report their belongings going missing and, quite alarmingly, describe being actively 'pushed from behind' when descending the stairways accompanied by 'warm breath' being felt on the neck.

Other guests are of the opinion this spirit is quite playful and quirky and will untie peoples shoelaces as they dine in the restaurant area.

Is there ever a funny side in attempting to actively push someone down a flight of stairs?

Could this entity be actively wanting to cause harm?

This is would be categorised as an ‘intelligent’ haunting. Intelligent haunts will readily interact with their surroundings, unlike a residual haunting which will play as if on a loop repeat.

Paranormal scholars have considered that intelligent haunts may struggle to cross the spiritual realm feel often associated with some injustice or unfinished business they need to attend to first.

They may have died suddenly and may not even realise their predicament yet. Whatever their situation, they WILL reach out and DO physically touch and communicate upon manifestation.

One young lady told how one night, at around 3am (which is believed to be the hour the supernatural veil wears thin allowing spectres entry), she could hear unexplained commotion in her room. ‘be quiet!’ she said, presuming it was her mother who was resting nearby.

Suddenly she noticed that none of the electricals would work. Her phone battery was drained, her mothers phone too. The room lights would not come on.

Moments later the girl described how ‘a dark aggressive entity lunged at her grabbing her neck’. She screamed out loud and woke her mother who came to her aid.

That young lady will never forget the experience and considers it paranormal in nature.
