EVPs EMFs and House Ghosts at The Merchants House Museum | Manhattan New York | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

This historical house Museum, located on East 4th Street New York, was ranked in the top 10% of attractions worldwide for its achievements in preservation.

This 19th century Manhattan family home, has been authentically preserved in its entirety both internally and externally (actual photograph below), and was earlier known as the Seabury Tredwell Home.

Originally constructed in 1832 by Joseph Brewster whose family had relocated here from Long Island. Brewsters uncle was the very First Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church of America.

After Brewsters death, the home was sold to wealthy New York business merchant, Mr Seabury Tredwell, in 1835. Seabury had worked over thirty five years in the hardware industry and retired at this address, where he died, in 1865. Seabury had a sister, Gertrude, who was born at this address.

Gertrude lived her whole life at this property and took her last breaths in the front bedroom at the grand age of 93.

In 1956 George Chapman purchased the property and reopened it as a museum which is open to the public today and displays many of the families original possessions, offering a glimpse into early 19th century merchant family life.

There have been hundreds of paranormal encounters at this museum including sightings of full bodied apparitions, who appear to be wearing servants uniforms, wandering various rooms as if tending to their daily tasks.

Visitors have explained how they watched doors open and close on their own, witnessed lights manically flickering on and off and stood in awe as objects levitated in the air.

The distant sound of children chattering, giggling, playing are often heard, followed by mysterious floating light anomalies in rooms where there is no viable incoming light source.

Paranormal investigations have revealed some truly disturbing EVPs (Electromagnetic Voice Phenomena) and exceedingly high EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) readings, and unexplained figures are often captured on visitors photographs.

EMF/K2 metres are used to detect paranormal entities by way of electromagnetic field readings. Usually if spirit is present the metre will display a higher reading (often referred to as spikes) which initiates the rapid LED light response.

Many hypothesize that when we die, the energy from our bodies gets converted into electromagnetic energy.  Some may debate that these metres are simply picking up on other known electrical sources, but how then would one explain accompanying EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) actual voice phenomena which often coincides at the exact same time.

Staff have described how some mornings the beds appear to have been slept in even though they were left pristine and untouched.

Many believe that Gertrudes spirit is particularly restless. However, she seemingly is set on faithfully keeping watch over what once was her family home from the supernatural realm.

Many claim to have interacted with Tredwell himself, unaware that he is of spirit, standing next to his own self portrait! It is alleged that he has been known to actively block visitors from accessing specific rooms and asks ‘please leave’.

Could these spirits be seeing us as intruders to their home?
