Haunted Towns Battle Field Ghosts | Chattooga North Carolina | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

When people ask me why history is important my answer would be that 'without history we are nothing'. If we don't know the details of past historical events how then can we honour those who fought on our behalf paving the way for freedoms ahead?

Chattooga, North Carolina, is a historical colonial town first inhabited by native American Tuscarora tribes who were considered the most highly developed tribe of the 1500s. The Tuscarora established many mining industries and were recognised for harnessing the properties of natural medicines, herbal remedies and indigenous hemp.

After their war against the English, during 1711 to 1713 (The Tuscarora War), the majority of survivors moved north to New York and Pennsylvania and aligned with the Iroquois, whilst other communities agreed to share land with the Oneida.

Later, many settled in what we know today as Ontario. The Tuscarora are now proudly federally and independently recognised. Pictured below are a Catawba Tribe who resided in South Carolina.

Many people died during the battle and there was much suffering at the hands of British soldiers who kidnapped women, seized tribal lands, and sold many into slavery. Fire, famine, bloodshed and death swept Chattooga leaving it in what can only be described as a mass grave.

It is believed that the town of Chattooga is haunted by those restless souls today. The air is heavy with residual energy and those who visit will tell you about the wandering souls so often sighted here.

Locals report witnessing full body apparitions of uniformed soldiers still roaming the moorlands, sounds of gunshots, cannon fire, and disappearing mists.

Undoubtedly the most chilling phenomena experienced would be the disturbing audible cries of women and children relentlessly calling out for help.

Are these souls seeking retribution for not being granted mercy?

The trauma suffered at Chattooga was truly immeasurable. Residual hauntings, also known as 'Restligeists' {restlich meaning residual/geist meaning ghost} are described as 'repetitive replay' haunts. They will present as auditory, visual, olfactory and other sensory phenomena attributed with a significant traumatic event.

Is is any surprise that this town is known as North Carolinas most haunted landmark today?

If you visit Chattooga don't be alarmed by the unexplained echoes in the wind.
