Mountain Meadows Massacre Ghosts | Veyo Utah | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

On September 11th in 1857 a group of immigrant settlers were killed by Mormon (Brigham Young and the Saints) Militia in the Mountain Meadows Vally, Veyo, Utah. This event was recorded as the Mountain Meadow Massacre with over 140 people massacred.

It is noted as one of historys most heartbreaking events and often described as a 'shameful tragedy'.

Militia soldiers requested that the immigrants surrender their weapons, with a promise of being escorted to Cedar City. Once the immigrants complied, they were killed. Two days later, Militia received instruction from Isaac Haight, mayor of Cedar City, stating 'DO NOT FIRE, LET THEM GO IN PEACE'.

The instruction arrived too late.

It is said that upon this discovery, Haight cried out in anguish 'too late, too late!'.

Many visitors to the meadows reports disturbing cries and feeling completely overcome with emotion and sadness. There have even been sightings of horse drawn wagons eerily crossing these fields.

Are these spirits residually haunting the meadows they thought would bring them new freedom?

Will they ever really be free?

There a monument of honour which you can visit today. If you ever visit be sure to listen for echoes in the breeze as you pay your respects.
