Slaughtered Screams from Massacred Boys at The Pico House | Los Angeles California | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

The City of Angels has its fair share of hauntings, one its most prolific is the haunting of the historical Pico House located on Oldtown Plaza.

Constructed in 1869, as a luxury 'Italianate' three storey hotel, this construction was commissioned by Don Pio Pico, Mexicos very last Governor, who aptly named it the Casa de Pico.

The hotel was considered the most elegant hotel in all of California and was the first in the city to provide both male and female restrooms on each of its floors.

During 1871 racial tensions ran dangerously high in Southern California resulting in an incident just outside the hotel which involved the cold blooded slaughter of a group of twenty Chinese men and boys which became known as the 'Chinese massacre'.

Of course the town was never the same again with the majority of residents deciding to relocate due to this incident. What was once a bustling vibrant cosmopolitan area became a literal ghost town. Eventually Governor Pico was forced to hand the property over to the San Francisco Loans Company due to financial demise and abandonment.

However, in 1953, the State of California took over ownership ensuring completion of all restoration works and a reopened it in 1960. The property went on to operate as lodging accommodation and later as a museum.

Still retaining much of its original nostalgia and charm, please take note that much of the building is no longer in use today. The site is now listed on the National Register of Historical Places. However, the ground floor is still often utilised for conferences and various scheduled events.

Regardless of ownership, refurbishment works and history, could it be that this building is now cursed to forever have blood on its hands?

Just be warned that there have been numerous reports of unexplained phenomena here including disembodied voices, unnatural icy cold spots, terrifying full spectrum walking apparitions and disturbing audible screaming sounds.

Could these screams be the spirits of those Chinese boys whose lives were so mercilessly taken?

Are they screaming out for retribution today?

Staff here seem to think so as often item will be thrown dangerously close to visitors and themselves.

For fans of the tv show The Mentalist, this site was used a filming production location and was featured on the Travel Channels Ghost Adventures series.

Have you visited The Pico House House?

Please be cautious. Admiring a historical landmark is one thing, being physically targeted by supernatural beings is quite another.
