The Cries of Madeline The Waitress at The Kings Tavern | Natchez Mississippi | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

The Kings Tavern was erected in the late 1700s and is one of the oldest original buildings in the port city of Natchez, Mississippi and was once used as a local post office.

This historical tavern is rumoured to be actively haunted by more than one entity. Let's find out a little more.

Not long after being constructed Richard King purchased the property. It is said that Richard employed a young girl named Madeline as a waitress. Soon after, the two fell head over heels in love and embarked on a passionate secret affair.

However, Kings wife discovered the relationship and set about arranging to have the girl killed. It is believed that the spirit of Madeline actively haunts the tavern today.

During the 1930 excavation work revealed three mummified corpses concealed within the taverns chimneys. It is speculated that these may have been the victims of Americas very first known serial killers, the Harpe Brothers, who were frequent drinkers at the tavern.

Today there are constant reports of all sorts of unexplained phenomena here. Guests have been known to experience an unexplained heat source emanating from unlit fireplaces.

Others are visibly alarmed by passing shadow figures and even the mysterious audible sounds of someone vehemently crying have been heard.

Could this be the ghost of tragic Madeline? Is she somehow looking for help or just mourning her early demise?

Today the tavern is popular with tourists and locals and serves woodfired flatbreads and a selection of cool cocktails. That's if you don't mind a little phenomena in the mix.
