The Read House Hotel in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is renowned for its mysterious and unexplainable happenings.

The hotel was purchased by John Read and first opened its doors in 1872.

In 1926 the building was demolished and rebuilt. 

Today it is a highly affluent, Southern, historical landmark icon.

Winston Churchill and Al Capone loved this hotel and checked in often.

This is really an astounding hotel which specializes in 1920s ambience with marble floors, art deco features and jazz sounds caressing the air.

The property is allegedly haunted by the spirits of past guests who were murdered here, also some natural deaths and suicides.

There is one spirit in particular who likes to make herself known at this hotel.

It is speculated that Annalise was killed in a bathtub here, in Room 311.

However, there are two versions of this story. Some say Annalise was decapitated whilst others say she took her own life. 

Annalise was known to dislike men, especially smokers.

Male visitors, particularly smokers, have reported bedsheets being violently dragged from them during the night, sustaining visible injuries such as scratches and bruises, watching as their personal possessions are thrown about the room before their very eyes.

Is Annalise manifesting as an angry poltergeist set on tormenting guests?

And who could blame her?

Would you be angry if someone stole your life from you?

Her ghostly pale face has been seen peering through the reflections in windows and in guests photographs.

Others have reported sighting the ghost of Al Capone himself, enjoying a drink at the bar.

Staff have watched ghostly forms walk through walls and report that room temperature will suddenly drop resulting in an enveloping icy coldness.
