The Ghost Of Vlad The Impaler | Bran Castle | Bran, Romania | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | BoiCGH

Bran Castle in Bran, Romania, is a national landmark located just south of Brasov.

This is the very fortification which inspired the castle portrayed in Bram Stokers 1897 Victorian Gothic novel ‘Dracula’. This primitive fort was constructed between 1377 and 1388 to guard the Eastern Transylvania borders and used to apprehend the rapid expansion of the Ottoman empire.

The castles most famous resident arrived here in 1459 and was none other that Vlad the Impaler a warlord who impaled his victim onto sticks, sometimes taking days until death came, a slow and agonising death.

He murdered thousands, burned cities and wiped out whole villages.

In 1918 Vlad himself was imprisoned right here in Bran Castle and later, Queen Marie of Romania, took ownership of the estate.

In 1948 Princess Ilyana and her family were forced to leave Bran via communist regime.

In 2006 the castle was legally returned to the heir of Princess Ilyana and today remains open as a museum and events centre.

Thousands flock here each year in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the paranormal.

Visitors have described mysterious mists, shadowy figures and claims of an unsettling atmosphere which many described as ’oppressive and heavy, as though something evil is hiding around every corner’.

One solemn figure is often sighted gazing from the windows, many believe this to the spirit of Vlad the Impaler himself.

Others have witnessed dark shadowy entities, encountered items moving and even been violently pushed and scratched at.

Which begs the question, did Vlad ever really leave here? Is he still inflicting pain?

Or could it be that vampires such as Dracula really do exist?

What do you think?
