Abandoned lands and ghostly activity.

Welcome to the Anza Borrego Desert State Park.

This popular state park in San Diego, California, spans an impressive 935 miles and was originally called the Borrego Palms State Park.

Historically, predating settlement, this land was utilized for thousands of years by various natives including the Kumeyaay tribes. There are expressive cultural petroglyphs, etched in rocks, still visible today.

In December, 1927, Californian Governor, Clement Calhoun Young, appointed five renowned conservationists who set about planning and developing parklands within this area.

In 1941 the park was officially opened for public use and it remains a popular recreational establishment today offering over 5000 miles of hiking trails and breathtaking wilderness.

There are stargazing facilities, and viewpoint opportunities, provided by DarkSky Management Association.

Chillingly, this location has long been surrounded by tales of intrigue and the paranormal.

Three ghostly figures, who appear to be dancing, are rumored to be the souls of homicide victims who have tragically passed on at this location.

Are these spirits simply searching for a final resting place?

The silhouette of a lady wearing a white gown, accompanied by an old aged prospector who appears in skeletal form, are both frequently encountered here, causing panic amongst hikers and campers.

Sightings of ghostly mules riding the sands, one being driven by a male who appears slumped in position as if tired and weary, are also reported.

Otherworldly lights are spied after dark, drifting and settling atop the landscape. These mysteriously fascinating glowing lights are nothing new but have been encountered for centuries.

Various phenomena has been documented at the park and skeptics have even confessed that, after sighting these phantom magical lights with their very own eyes, their views and opinions regarding hauntings and the paranormal have indeed been significantly altered.

Are you a believer in the paranormal?

Or a skeptic?
