South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, was founded in 1862 and is the largest and second oldest university in the State.

But did you know this is also one of South Dakotas most haunted historical locations?

All across campus, students and faculty continually report strange lights, disembodied voices and mysterious light orbs in photographs.

To this day many report sighting items physically moving unaided accompanied by a full spectrum apparition of a janitor who has been known to readily interact and communicate with the living.

This would be classed as a human / intelligent haunting.

The janitor is said to have fallen to his death in the music auditorium in 1919 and still actively lingers there today.

Faculty report that the music room organ will spontaneously play when no one is in the room.

Investigations have captured extremely high EMF (electromagnetic field) levels, and audible EVPs (electronic voice phenomena) stating ‘demon’ and ‘malevolent’.

The most widely experienced phenomena is a feeling of unease and being constantly watched whilst ascending the stairwells.
