Six Flags Amusement Park, New Orleans, Louisiana, is a previously abandoned amusement park. Due to its many reports of terrifying encounters, and otherworldly tales, the park is widely known as a hotspot for urban explorers and paranormal enthusiasts.

In May 2000 an initial park, named Jazzland, was opened under management of Alpha Smart Parks who welcomed over 25,000 guests and over 1 million visitors during the first year of operation. 

However, Alpha Smart Parks, who had only ever managed smaller amusement arcades, were unable to maintain upkeep of the park. Revenue decreased and the company filed for bankruptcy.

During 2002 the property was taken over by Six Flags Property who renamed the park as Six Flags and infused $44,000,000 into renovations with plans for a grand reopening.

However, just days later, Hurricane Katrina hit. The expanse was submerged 6ft under water and the decision was made that the park remain closed indefinitely.

Since this time the location has been used as a filming location for high profile blockbuster movies such as Jurassic World, Percy Jacksons Sea of Monsters and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.

In 2021 Bayou Phoenix purchased the park with plans to reopen it to the public.

Spirits previously connected to this location, and the souls of those taken by Hurricane Katrina, are rumored to haunt the parkland.

A malevolent entity, rumored as being demonic, has been known to attack the living causing much panic. Investigators have been scratched, grabbed and pushed at by cruel and unseen hands.

Phenomena on site has included the ghost of a worker who died during the original parks restorations, extreme coldspots, shadowy figures and white misty floating anomalies.

Construction workers have encountered phantom sounds of music, rides and childrens laughter, as if the old park continues to run in parallel to our realm today.

Could this long dormant park be attempting to bring itself back to life today?
