Ghost in The Mirror at Haunted Prince Rupert Hotel | Shrewsbury England | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | United Kingdom | BoiCGH

Amongst the cobbled streets of Shrewsbury town, is the very traditional and very haunted Prince Rupert pub and hotel named in honour of the grandson of King James the First who actually stayed at the hotel whilst trying to raise troops for the royalist cause.

Today the hotel is owned by Mike Matthews who states that the pub dates back to the 1100s. and Prince Rupert lived at the property between 1661 and 1664.

In 1996 when Mr Matthews first took over ownership with his nephew Dominic, they were excited to spend their very first family night at the hotel.  After a busy evening welcoming many new guests they decided to get some rest.

This is when they experienced their first paranormal activity.

They went to the bedrooms to discover their pillows, and certain personal belongings were either missing or had been mysteriously moved.

Could this be the doing of playful spirits or is there something more sinister going on here?

Many paranormal investigators have stayed in The Prince Rupert suite and witnessed an actual physical indentation/compression marking on the bed as if an invisible person is actually sitting there with them on the bed.

A local newspaper reporter caught an image of a mystery woman in a wardrobe mirror that was not present within the room at the time as he was alone.

Who was this woman in the mirror?

The Prince Philip Tudor suite is their most active site with hundreds of guests very shaken after witnessing an apparition of a lady hanging from the ceiling beams! This may be the ghost of a hotel maid from 1880 who took her own life in the hotel after being jilted by her lover.

The hotel houses a vast underground cellar and some have seen the ghost of a young man named Thomas down there. Thomas reportedly sadly drowned in the pond outside years ago.  One guest claimed she was actually speaking to a man, who physically took her by the hand and led her outside telling her about the pond to show her where he actually drowned! Unbeknown to her she had encountered the ghost of Thomas himself.

Another guest felt a pair of hands around her neck fiddling with her necklace.

A fascinating pub in a charming landscape.
