The Real Silent Hill Christine Haunts The Olson House | Cushing Rockland Maine | Refurbishments Awaken Resting Spirits | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

If you’ve ever fancied stepping into a real life work of art, now is your chance, and even more fascinating is that this property is reportedly haunted by spirits of unrest.

The Olson farmhouse in Cushing, Maine, was built by Captain Samuel Hawthorne in the 1700s and was originally home to brother and sister Christina and Alvaro Olson. It is reported that large scale refurbishments during 1871, which made the home almost unrecognisable, may have disturbed spirits buried within the very foundations.

If this 14 room colonial style abode seems familiar to you, this is the very house which inspired artist and realist painter Andrew Wyeths painting ‘Christinas World’ (1948) which was The Gillespie House in the famous Silent Hill gaming series.

Wyeth lived at the farmhouse for a short while and became good friends with Christina and Alvaro Olson, offering to paint a masterpiece in their honour.

Christina died in 1978 and was buried here. Many believe her spirit was roused during renovation works and today she actively haunts the home she once so loved.

The painting is certainly worth looking up online, depicting the old cedar sided farmhouse with the girl, Christine, seeming lost in the surrounding fields. Wyeth is one of Americas most prolific and critically acclaimed artists of our time.

Local folks who walk by after dark describe encountering some truly creepy phenomena when passing by the stark, but beautiful, Olson house. The warm ghostly glow of candlelight through windows is often seen, as though an invisible entity is carrying a night lantern throughout the home, with lights seeming to flicker on and off.

Could this be the spirit of Christina Olson as she chooses to residually linger here?

During daylight visiting hours when the house runs as a museum people often detect the sudden overwhelming aroma of flowers permeate the air, accompanied by icy cold blasts of air.

The house officially became a National Historic Landmark in 2011 and today is part of The Farnsworth Museum. Andrew Wyatts art can be viewed at the museum today and the site is open to the public.

Many who view the painting describe feeling uneasy. I wonder why?

Could it be because Christina in the painting may be standing right next to them in the room in spirit?

In the painting was Christina simply lost in the woods?

Is she running away from the house?

If you really want to know the real reason Christina is in the field, just ask me in the comment section below and I’d be happy to chat.

So Christinas World became the real life Olson house. I wonder what secrets this homestead really holds?
