A Woman Scorned | Ghosts at The US Grant Luxury Hotel | San Diego California | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

California, the Golden State, is home to some truly serene sands with San Diego being known for its creepy cemeteries, mysterious landmarks and some deeply dark history.

The US Grant Hotel is a luxury historical hotel located in San Diegos Broadway sector of the prestigious Gaslamp Quarter. This upscale hotel was first erected by Alonzo Horton during the 1800s.

Horton purchased multiple land plots in this area and set about constructing The Horton House Hotel. This was San Diegos first major accommodation construction.

During 1906 Horton sold the hotel to Ulysses S Grant Jr (son of Ulysses S Grant) and wife Fanny Grant, who renamed the hotel in his fathers honour as The US Grant.

During 1952 their in house signature restaurant, The Grant Grill, was opened to the public. However, financial difficulties presented upon foreseable horizons, along with personal loss, culminating in some truly difficult roads ahead for Ulysses.

Soon after, tragically his wife Fanny passed away leaving him to run the enterprise alone. However all was not lost in love and Ulysses went on to re marry and moved his new bride into the hotel he loved so much.

Many believe that this action initiated much unrest with Fanny in the spirit realm and speculate that Mrs Grant cannot rest in peace watching the happiness of her beloved Ulysses, with another love, enjoying the home they worked so tirelessly to create together.

Could this spirit be experiencing feelings of loss, scorn, betrayal? Let's hope she doesn't become too agitated.

In 2003 the hotel was closed down but reopened in 2006. Staff wholeheartedly believe this hotel to be haunted by Fanny whose apparition is often seen aimlessly roaming hallways once darkness falls.

Visitors have reported hearing running footsteps, seeing objects moving on their own, hearing audible voices and perturbant sobbing emanating from empty rooms. Others describe feeling a negative energy surrounding them within specific areas of the hotel.

Yet perhaps the most sinister phenomena seen here is the manifestation of a tall dark ominous male figure who peers menacingly around corridor corners.

I don't doubt this to be a frightening entity but as the saying goes, there's really nothing worse than a woman scorned.

The hotel is now owned by Marriott Hotel & Resort Luxury Collection offering a chic cocktail lounge, 24 hour gym, five star cuisine and a warm welcome to all.

Next time you visit San Diego why not check in and let us know if you experience anything paranormal.
