“DON’T EVER LEAVE YOUR ROOM AFTER 9PM OK?....”

Did you ever watch a plot twist that left your jaw on the floor?

You really didn’t see it coming?

THE VISIT (2015)

This movie is brought us by my own personal favorite, and one of Americas most impactful directors to ever hit the big screen ever, M. Shymalan.

Produced by Jason Blum who knows how to recreate terror and brought us Paranormal Activity (2007).

This iconic American psychological horror filmmaker brought us The Sixth Sense (1999), Signs (2002), Glass (2019), The Happening (2008), recent cinema release Old (2021) and highly acclaimed movie Split (2016).

This found footage style film tells the story of two teens, who travel to a rural Pennsylvania farm, to meet their grandparents for the very first time.

Audiences worldwide fell instantly in love with these two kids.

They are warned not to go in the basement.

Not to leave their bedrooms after 9.30pm.

Do they take heed and listen?

What do you think? Ha.

The story unfolds as we witness some truly disturbing behavior and some unnerving ‘otherworldly’ occurrences.

Fascinating to discover that director M. Shymalan decided to forego an original music score but rather just enjoyed the production audio of those in the moment, realistic, sounds such as creaking doors and screams throughout.

Mmm this kinda makes me want to hear that AS a score. Ha.

This movie won’t frighten you so much that you need to leave a light on tonight. But it is a nice delicate tonal balance between thriller and horror, possession and plenty of twists and dramatic effect.

Enjoy the movie!
