Can You Hear That? | The Whispers Of Medieval Kings | The Ghost Of Braveheart At Chillingham Castle | London, United Kingdom | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | United Kingdom | BoiCGH

Chillingham Castle, Northumberland, Central London, United Kingdom, is claimed as being the most haunted castle in England.

Historically, this was a strategically positioned line of defence against the Scots.

Thousands of prisoners were tortured, limbs horrifically severed, captives would be thrown down 20ft manholes, forced into metal spike filled barrels and rolled around until their flesh was mutilated, torn away from their bodies.

Death did not come easily or swiftly. It was slow and painful. There are reasons Brits were known as barbarians.

There are over 1000 years of history held within these castle walls and paranormal activity is nothing new at this timeless location.

King of England, Edward I, ceased William Wallace (Braveheart), and brought him back to this very castle where he was hung, drawn and quartered by John Sage, the castles appointed torturer.

John Sage was the castles highest appointed 'torturer' known as 'the giant'. A monster who could instill terror with just a glance of his eyes. And those eyes were the last thing prisoners would see as they breathed their final breaths.

Can you imagine the fear those prisoners must have felt as Sage loomed large towards them?

There are continual reports of spirit activity at this location including full spectrum apparitions at the old torture room accompanied by a sense of sudden fear and panic.

In the chapel visitors have witnessed a shadow figure of over 8ft tall, believed to be John Sage the torturer himself.

Why would Sage be in the chapel? Seeking forgiveness a little too late?

A female visitor claimed as she sat in the chapel, she felt another person physically sit down next to her and a very real sensation of icy fingers run across her own praying hands.

She was alone in that chapel. So who, or what, was there with her?

Chilling EVPs (electronic voice phenomena) have been recorded down in the prison holding cells and guests will often ask where the other visitors are, they hear very real voices and presume them to be human.

They are not.

There are two specific words audibly heard over and over again in the dungeons, those words are ‘James’ and ‘dead’ are often whispered into visitors’ ears as they pass the upper dungeon torture room.

King James II was beheaded in that very room.

Spirits here have also been known to readily correspond to paranormal investigational questioning.

Entities continually, and actively, seek some avenue of communication with the living. This is one of Englands most medieval sites.

So, as always, proceed with caution as you venture these historic rooms.
