THERMAL CAMERA

The Thermal Camera illuminates from the source or material, the warmer the source, the more infra-red light will be radiated. Dark equals cold, white equals hot, the spectrum range varies from dark (indicating a COLDER source) to light (indicating a hot source).

For example a block of frozen ice would appear as black or purple toned, whereas a cup of lukewarm water would appear orange/yellow toned because the water is a warmer source material. A hairdryer in use would appear bright glowing  yellow as the nozzle is heated to a higher temperature.

Thermal cameras can be used to detect any temperature difference normally anywhere between -40 to 300 degrees Celsius.

K2 / (EMF) METER

A K2 or (Electromagnetic Frequency) meter detects two fields, one is electromagnetic and the other is radio frequency. 

Here is how to decipher the two frequencies apart.

EMF ELECTROMAGNETIC

On the meter there are 5 coloured lights, 2 green, 1 yellow, 1 orange, 1 red. The green light will always remain ON, indicating the meter is working correctly. When an EMF frequency is detected the colours will generally light up solid, meaning usually the lights will stay activated and not flicker, although it is normal so see some flickering on the last (red light) if the frequency does alter. The other lights should remain ON solid for the most part.

RADIO FREQUENCY 

K2 meters are mostly used to debunk high EMF fields, many times these fields are claimed to be the result of hauntings, however we must point out that digital audio recorders are susceptible to radio frequencies too so it is in fact possible you may be picking up on telephone or 2 way radio emissions. Always try to determine where possible whether or not the source is genuine or surrounding audio equipment frequencies.

If radio frequency is detected ALL the lights will flicker, none will remain solidly ON. 

Benefits of using a K2 meter is that it is very compatible in the dark, with no light source required.

DIGITAL VOICE RECORDER

Digital voice recorders are used to capture any audio aspects of an investigation. The device will detect such noises as floorboards creaking, voices, whispers, groans, items being knocked or moved, basically anything audible will be recorded.

Before beginning an audio investigation be sure to dispose of anything metal, like coins, keys, reflective clothing as these may cause unnecessary clashing sounds hence interferring with the recording.

Always announce any noises you yourself cause for example if you knock into a chair, announce it, if your stomache rumbles, announce it, so as to not contaminate the audio findings. 

Never ever hold the Digital Voice Recorder in your hand as this will result in a muffled recording.  Always set the recorder down on a solid surface or alternatively use a stand or recommended arm-stand for stability as this will provide a validated and clearer recording.

Always adjust the volume down to low or medium standard. All that is now required is attaching your speaker to the device and simply press the record button. 

THERMOMETER

A basic standard piece of equipment which is used to detect hot and cold spots during an investigation. Usually a small hand-held infra-red device which measures an accurate room temperature.

DATA LOGGER

A data logger is collection data device which records such fields as temperature fluctuation, EMF, vibration sensitivity, humidity and pressure. On screen lights are used to indicate each fields intensity. Any variation in the specified energy fields will be shown. A very versatile and useful tool with alot of inbuilt functions.
