When The Music Stops | Ressurection Mary At Chicago Cemetery | Chicago, Illinois | Paranormal | Historical | Haunting | America | BoiCGH

People are fascinated by the paranormal, period.

Every culture has its own tales of hauntings passed on from generation to generation, and the Windy City is no exception.

Resurrection Cemetery is located in Chicago, Illinois.

Resurrection Mary is without doubt the most prolific haunting located in Chicago and is said to have convinced so many people that the paranormal exists.

It is alleged that Mary Bregovi lived in the area during the 1930s, a beautiful young lady, described as 'slender, blue eyes, blonde hair'. Mary worked hard six days a week in a factory and every saturday she would enjoy going ballroom dancing.

One weekend Mary went shopping with a girl friend of hers, they arranged a double date with two gentlemen.

They attended a dance at the local Oh Henry Ballroom where the champagne flowed and the sounds of saxophone magically infused the airwaves.

And then the music stopped.

Tragedy was imminent.

Travelling home, the car they were in became involved in a deadly accident. Mary was sitting in the front passenger seat, her body was thrown through the windshield. She died instantly and was buried at Resurrection Cemetery in Chicago.

This haunting has stood the test of time, year after year individuals report sighting Mary, but not in apparition form, rather she appears as a living person.

Mary has been known to readily interact with the living in and around the cemetery.

One gentleman claims one night he saw a young lady wearing a glitzy party dress, dancing shoes and holding a small clutch type purse.

The lady was desperately clinging onto the railings of the cemetery, as if trying to escape, her hands desperately trying to prize the rail bars open.

He figured that maybe she had simply become trapped within the cemetery whilst walking home from a night out. Seconds later the lady had vanished into thin air.

He ran to to inform the caretaker who swiftly called two police officers to the scene.

As they approached the railings, much to their astonishment, they noticed that in actual fact the railings had been forcefully prized open with clearly visible handprints on the metal work itself.

Passers by continually report encountering a female, walking the perimeter of the cemetery at night, and if you guessed that this lady is wearing a glitzy party frock, you'd be correct.

Many have also sighted Mary running in and out of the cemetery gates along Archer Avenue once darkness falls, again seemingly distressed.

Is Mary simply trying to find a way back home?

What do you think?

There have been tales ever since the 1930s of vehicles driving North East along Archer Avenue stopping to pick up a female hitchhiker who disappears as she opens the car doors.

Archer Avenue is historically a native Indian road where thousands of natives were laid to rest.

Phenomena here includes fast moving shadow shadow figures and a sensation of feeling 'off balance, disorientated'.

Could the spirit activity here be causing such extreme spikes in electromagnetic fields that it affects the perception of visitors today?

Do spirits always realise that they have passed on?
